40. AARP Andrus Foundation - Aging Research Grants Programs
The AARP Andrus Foundation has announced opportunities for funding research in aging in two areas:
Aging and Financial Security: The Foundation hopes to advance knowledge in this areas through grants to study the impact of legislation on savings patterns, psychosocial factors which determine an individual's propensity to save, the range and influence of employer efforts to educate employees about private savings options, and the economic consequences of living with chronic health conditions. Proposals are invited on the specific following areas of interest:
1. Future directions in private savings. 2. The economic impact of chronic health conditions.
Grant awards will be made for up to two years for a maximum of $75,000, including indirect costs. It is anticipated that up to 10 awards will be made under this program initiative each year.
Living with Chronic Health Conditions: The Foundation seeks to identify how to measure the impact of chronic diseases and maintain independence among older adults with multiple chronic health conditions. Proposals are invited on the following specific areas of interest:
1. New ways to assess the impact of chronic diseases. 2. Maximizing adaptation to chronic health conditions.
Grant awards will be made for up to two years for a maximum of $100,000, including indirect costs. It is anticipated that up to 10 awards will be made under this program initiative each year.
Letters of intent will be considered for investigations outside these areas of the research questions are related to the overall concerns of the program initiative. Such studies must represent a cutting-edge idea and/or readily provide an answer for a critically important question to be competitively considered against project in the above-noted areas.
Letters of Intent for both program areas must be postmarked by JANUARY 15, 2000. Full proposals will be invited.
