For the forthcoming year (2000-2001) the project will focus on communities in various forms of crisis (genocide, civil war, economic breakdown, "natural" disasters) and how questions of accountability, identity, tolerance, and reconstruction are represented and addressed in light of these crises.
The stipend for this fellowship will be $35,000/year plus benefits.
Applications are welcome from the social sciences, humanities, and legal, health and human rights fields. Regional, comparative, and interdisciplinary interests are especially welcome. In addition to their individual writing and research, fellows will participate in seminars, conferences and other activities relevant to the overall themes of the project. Applicants need not be U.S. citizens. The deadline for applications for 2000-2001 is JANUARY 15, 2000.
