57. NSF - Alan T. Waterman Award - Deadline Extension for Nominations
The National Science Foundation (NSF) is accepting applications for the 25th Alan T. Waterman Award which annually recognizes an outstanding young scientist in the forefront of science. The award was established by Congress in 1975 to honor the first NSF director and to mark the 25th anniversary of the Foundation. The award will be presented in May 2000.
In addition to a medal and other recognition, the recipient receives a $500,000 non-restrictive grant over a three-year period for continued research.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and 35 years old or younger, or not more than seven years beyond receipt of the Ph.D. by December 31, 1999. Candidates should have completed sufficient scientific or engineering research to have demonstrated, through personal accomplishments, outstanding capability and exceptional promise for significance future achievement. Selection criteria include originality, innovation and significant impact on the field.
The nomination deadline has been extended to DECEMBER 31, 1999.
